My Secure Backup 3.10 released
We’re extremely excited to announce that My Secure Backup 3.1 is now available on our download page. Automatic updates will be turned on early next week to allow customers to download and install the update directly within the software.
Changes in version 3.1 include:
- The Server edition now inlcudes a search box and added fields, to make it easier to find the server you’d like to connect to when your account contains large numbers of them.
- The Backup Vault cleanup operation is now selectable in this edition as well (it was previously activated for Workgroup users).
- Improved the compression algorithm used by backup vault databases. Some users may experience a conversion process when My Secure Backup detects that the new algorithm needs to be utilized.
- Corrected an issue that caused backup exclusions and nested folders to work incorrectly in some circumstances. Also improved performance with the backup reporting feature.
- Improved robustness and reliability when using backup vaults. Some additional diagnostic capabilities were added during backup cleanups, and extra checking is now performed to ensure that a safety copy of the backup database is uploaded to cloud storage.
- Improved peformance relating to detecting network connections and proxy servers on startup.
- The ~VersionArchive folder is now hidden from view.
- The network drive functionality on Windows now has better performance, resolving a few issues reported by our users in the support forums.
- Improved the detection of changed files when using the compatibility bucket format, and when using the “Network Drive” disk type on Windows XP.
My Secure Backup 3.08 released
The 3.08 Maintenance Release is aimed at some problems reported in 3.07 with proxy servers and slow searches for files that needed to be backed up.
For the Mac and Windows customers who prefer upgrading with the automatic update feature, we anticipate switching this update on later this week (you can select “Check for Updates” from the My Secure Backup Help Menu to see if the new version is available).
As always, you can find all the downloads available on our Download page.
Release notes:
- Version 3.08 resolves issues with proxy servers and slow backup searches that were introduced in version 3.07.
The remaining bullets below apply to Version 3.07
- My Secure Backup is now better at detecting Internet connectivity problems and taking appropriate action when entering offline mode.

- Resolved an issue which could cause an entire backup database to be re-uploaded after a backup cleanup operation. Now only the changed portion of the database will be uploaded.
- Corrected an issue that could cause very large backup previews to end without displaying a file list.
- The “What to Back Up” dialog now correctly displays the total backup size when backup directories are removed from the list.
- Corrected an issue that sometimes resulted in “Can’t open file” error messages on Windows.
- My Secure Backup now has an improved ability to automatically detect and repair invalid backup vault data.
- Users can now select multiple directory folders at the same time in the restore dialog to add to the current restore list.
- Vault-based backups should run slightly faster, especially when backing up large numbers of files.
- Corrected an issue that could lead to a program crash in the Server Edition Management Client.
- Server edition users can now press a “Change Server” button on the Management client, which returns you to the list of available servers.
My Secure Backup 3.06 released
We made 3.05 available earlier this month, introducing one-way sync, improved backup vault cleanup, and a number of additional improvements. After the release, we continued to get feedback (some from customers already running 3.05) that pointed to a few more items needing our attention.
We don’t like subjecting our customers to overly-frequent version changes, but in this case we felt it best to knock out a few more improvements and get them into the hands of our users. So today, we’re releasing Version 3.06 for each of our product editions. In it, you’ll find even better backup vault cleanup performance, optimized uploading of backup vault database files, and a number of other improvements.
You can download the new version of your edition from our Download Center.
For the Mac and Windows customers who prefer upgrading with the automatic update feature, we anticipate switching this on for 3.06 later this week (you can select “Check for Updates” from the My Secure Backup Help Menu to see if the new version is available).
